School of Medicine
Introduction
School of Medicine was first opened in March, 2009, in order to foster persons with various majors to be doctors well equipped in the era of globalization.
HISTORY
- June, 2005 Notified the confirmation on the plan to convert as medical graduate school by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development (entrance quota of 38 students)
- March, 2007 Entrance of 38 new students in the premed course of medical college
- March, 2008 Entrance of 38 new students in the premed course of medical college
- March, 2009 Opened the medical graduate school
- March, 2009 Entrance of 38 new students in the premed course of medical college and entrance of 38 new students in the graduate school of medicine
EDUCATION OBJECTIVES
- 1. Possess the ability to diagnose, treat and prevent common wounds and diseases of human race.
- 2. Value the health and life of human race to have spirit of service, sense of cooperation and strong awareness of responsibility.
- 3. Have a self-learning attitude by responding to the evolving needs of international society and medical advancement
- 4. Possess basic ability for medical research by developing scientific thinking skills and creativity.
LENGTH OF PROGRAMS AND RESIDENCE
School of Medicine programs cover 4 years.
ADMISSION
A person who possess four-year college degree meeting all of the following qualifications is eligible to apply
- 1) getting official grades on the MEET.
- 2) GPA is more than B(80/100, 3.00/4.5, 2.87/4.3, 2.67/4.0)
- 3) Scores on internationally authorized English tests is more than 750 TOEIC, 79 TOEFL IBT(213 CBT, 550 PBT), 651 TEPS
- 4) Complete 9 credits on biology, chemistry and physics
- 5) Who is not incapacitated or unqualified according to medical law
APPLICATION
Recruiting is made annually, in September for next year. Application is completed by submitting to the school a formal application form and certifications supplied by the school. The candidates will go through several procedures such as interviews and simple tests, and the final selections are announced in December.
DEGREE AND CERTIFICATE
To get the doctor of medicine on graduation, they must complete the required courses and be given pass mark every grade. Furthermore, they have to pass the Korea Medical Licensing Examination.
REGULATIONS FOR THE DEGREES
- 1. Students must complete 171 credits of mandatory course,
- 1) 153 credits of major courses,
- 2) more than 10 credits of elective courses in major,
- 3) more than 8 credits of scholarly elective courses.
- 2. they must do public service for 80 hours in healthcare until graduation.
- 3. they must pass the general test for basic medicine and clinical medicine.
