Introduction
Major of Policy Science
Chunma Honors School conferring a bachelor¡¯s degree in policy science was established in 2009 with the purpose of attracting talented students to transform them into Y-type human beings. A Y-type person is defined as a competent man or woman who can act as a leader in promoting the globalization of Yeungnam University in the 21st century and also can have a central role in the knowledge-based future society.
All students selected on a full 4 year scholarship are working towards becoming global leaders by preparing to take Civil Service Examinations for high ranking public officers, studying to obtain professional certificates such as CPA and Custom Broker, or setting goals to gain positions in public enterprises, major private companies, or financial firms. Some students decided to obtain higher or special degrees and are working hard to get into graduate school or law school.

Major of Medical Life Science
Major of Medical Life Science was established in 2009, and provides an excellent pre-medical/pre-pharmacy program for students who are highly motivated to pursue a career in the medicine/pharmacy field and have an ultimate goal of entering the medical profession. The highly selective program can be divided into two tracks, pre-medical and pre-pharmacy track, offering students extensive guidance and assistance in preparing for a medical/pharmacy professional school. Since the basic core sciences are required for most medical/pharmacy schools, we offer a structured and comprehensive curriculum that fulfills all the premedical requirements that students will need to apply to medical/pharmacy school.
During freshman and sophomore years, the students will complete the core premedical curriculum, such as general biology, general chemistry, general physics, and organic chemistry, all with accompanying labs for two semesters. In addition, the students will take calculus for one semester, and leadership and a writing course as well. Upper level courses including animal physiology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, microbiology, immunology, developmental biology, and ecology will be taken during junior and senior years. All classes are taught by outstanding faculty who are leaders in their fields. The students can apply for either PEET (Pharmacy Education Eligibility Test) after finishing three semesters or MEET/DEET (Medical/Dentistry Education Eligibility Test) after finishing seven semesters, generally held on the last Sunday of August.
The students have an opportunity for overseas training of English or research for approximately six weeks, and many other extracurricular activities. Most students can be supported by a Chunma scholarship as long as they keep a grade point average of B+(over 3.5 on a 4.5 scale).
