The YU Female Professors Association (Chairwoman Song Hye-young) donated 20 million KRW in scholarships for students.
This is not the first time that the YU Female Professors Association put up a scholarship fund for students. The YU Female Professors Association has been selecting three students each semester to give 1 million KRW per student for a total of 3 million KRW. The YU Female Professors Association decided to increase the number of students to receive scholarships in the second semester of 2020 to help students having difficulty with school work due to the spread of COVID-19. On July 1, The Female Professors Association Chairwoman Song Hye-young and Secretary Seon Da-hye met with YU President Sur Gil-soo to donate 20 million KRW to the university.
YU Female Professors Association Chairwoman Song Hye-young (School of Fine Arts Professor) said, “The Female Professors Association decided to increase scholarships for the next semester to help more students with their studies,” while adding, “This year, the university and students are faced with unprecedented hardships due to COVID-19. I believe that when all of the members of the university gather together, we will be able to overcome COVID-19.”
The YU Female Professors Association is the first female professors association to be founded in universities in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas. Members of the Female Professors Association donate a part of their salary or donate lump sums for the scholarship fund. This Association has so far donated over 83 million KRW to students as scholarships.
