First Secretary to the President for Education for the Park Geun-hye Administration

Professor Gim, Chae Chun (50, Department of Education, photo) was nominated
as the first Secretary to the President for Education of the Cheong Wa Dae of the Park Geun-hye Government.
Secretary Gim served as a member of the Happiness Education Task Force of the People's Happiness Committee, which was the election campaign camp for President Park during her presidential campaign. He also served as an expert advisor of the presidential transition committee.
Secretary Gim earned his bachelor's degree in education at the Seoul National University College of Education (1986), master's in education at the Seoul National University Graduate School of Education (1988), and PhD in education at the UCLA Graduate School (1996). He has been serving as a professor at the YU Department of Education since March 2000.
In the school, he has served as a vice-dean of the College of Education, director of the Teaching & Learning Support Center, and the vice-dean of the Graduate School of Education. He also served as a researcher for the Korean Educational Development Institute and the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, director of the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice educational policy committee, and as various policy advisors for the Ministry of Education. He is also the president of the Asia IARTEM(International Assosiation for Research on Textbooks and Educational Media).
