YU was evaluated highly for leading intellectual Hallyu (Korean cultural wave) through the scientification and globalization of the Saemaul Undong and Saemaul spirit.
In September 2011, YU established the 'Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul (Dean Park Seung-woo)' and graduate the first 'Saemaul studies master' in the world in August. In June of last year, YU also signed exchange and cooperation MOUs with nine national universities in seven Southeast Asian countries to play a leading role in spreading 'Intellectual Hallyu' focusing on Saemaul Undong, Korean language, and engineering technologies.
